Hindi is the official language of India (English is an additional official language), and although there are 22 other recognised languages in India, Hindi is the most widely spoken, with approximately 40% of the population speaking it as their mother tongue, mainly in the north and centre of the country. Despite being the first language of almost 500 million speakers and therefore one of the most important languages in the world, Spanish speakers wishing to learn this language have often had to rely on grammar books published in English, noting the clear lack of publications in Spanish. This is, therefore, the first comprehensive grammar book published in Spanish to offer a detailed philological study of the Hindi language, with thorough descriptions of its morphology and syntax, alongside numerous practical exercises and an extensive glossary; a work conceived as a reference guide for Spanish-speaking students and scholars.
