Tagoreando

Tagoreando is a music and dance show based on the poems of Rabindranath Tagore, co- produced in 2021 by Casa de la India with the Antonio Andrade Flamenco Company and the Mónica de la Fuente Company.

Tagoreando is an invitation to enter Tagore’s poetic world, into the very act of creation as an encounter between words, music, song and bodily expression. A transformative dialogue of poetic language made into rhythm, gesture and melody. A language that is also pictorial, inspired by his paintings, with which he so skilfully portrayed the human soul. Tagore is a genius in continuous creation and growth. There is not just one Tagore, but a garland of many who compose a view of the world through the eyes of a poet.

Tagore never visited Spain, despite being a great traveller throughout the world. A trip to Spain, however, was carefully planned by Juan Ramón Jiménez, and scheduled for April 1921. The great creators of the time had organised an artistic gathering and a welcome party in his honour at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid. One hundred years later, we welcome the poet to Spain, offering him an aesthetic delight through the profound languages of flamenco singing and guitar in dialogue with the performing arts of India.
